WINEMAKING
Exit West was born from the sloping crimson hillsides of the Red Hills AVA. Mt. Konocti, our resident dormant volcano, dominates the skyline and influences our identity. Presiding over the landscape, impacting the soil and climate for miles in all directions, her impact is unavoidable. Our approach is to highlight the diversity of these massive and pre-historic geological wonders in each respected wine region available to us.
With eons of activity and formation, the soils at these sites are diverse, complex, and rich in nutrients. Intentional winemaking is extremely important to us. Reinforcing that climate, site, and nature represent the essence of what is expressed in the bottle. Our wines are designed to transport you. Expressing the characteristics of where they came from, what individualities exist in each region, and why they are so deserving of artistic expression. Exit West encourages you to choose your exit and be adventurous.
Currently our offerings are from two single vineyard sites from two, different, yet long proven mountain ranges. Our Estate wine comes from the northern reaches of the Mayacamas range at an elevation of 2400ft. While our Phelan Ranch expression sits at 1800ft atop the Vaca range located in Napa Valley, just East of St. Helena and across from Pritchard Hill. Although we are dedicated to these sites, our philosophy forces us to continue our hunt for exciting new offerings.
